Game hunting with hand guns is not something you see every day. However, a number of game hunters are taking a liking to this aspect of the sport because of the added challenge, excitement and not to mention sense of achievement when they are able to bring home meat from the buck that they hunted with a handgun. The reason why it is harder to hunt with a hand gun is the fact that it doesn’t give the hunter room to properly set the target for their prey before they pull the trigger. However, handguns that are loaded with 45 acp bullets generally give more power and can inflict a lot more damage to the target. This is a big advantage because the game is immediately immobilized thus eliminating the risk of it escaping.
When using a handgun during a hunt, you would need to get as close as you can to your target. This is because the bullets in 45 calibers are not as light as a lead bullet; thus, it is slower and it requires the shooter to be in close distance to his target. So as not to startle your game, make sure that you wear clothing that easily blends in with the environment of your hunting range. Also, remember to keep as close as you can to the ground and minimize your movements. Deer and birds are sensitive to sounds so you would need to make as little noise as possible while you are trying to close your distance. Lastly, make sure you aim as close as you can to the heart of your game so , as to make your kill as humane as possible.
